AI in the Classroom: Ethical, Intentional, and Creative Practices for Schools.
Thursday November 5, 2026 9:00am - Friday November 6, 2026 2:52pm PST
This hands-on deep dive will invite participants to explore how AI can be used and discussed in schools to support critical thinking and learning, rather than simply a tool for answering. Across two days, we will examine how students and educators can use AI to research, draft, develop ideas, ask better questions, write effective prompts, and critically evaluate results with intention and responsibility. We will also engage with urgent ethical questions we are facing: the importance of media literacy in a world where seeing is no longer believing; the role of AI companions in students’ social and emotional lives; and the ways these systems can reflect, distort, or marginalize certain identities. Grounded in our school’s evolving experience of integrating AI into teaching and learning, this deep dive will create space for participants to reflect on their own contexts. Through discussions, practical frameworks, classroom observation, and collaborative reflection, participants will leave with strategies to support thoughtful, creative, and equitable AI use in their communities.

Designing for Engagement, Responding to Student Behavior / Planejamento e Relacionamento: Estratégias para o Cotidiano Escolar
Thursday November 5, 2026 9:00am - Friday November 6, 2026 4:00pm PST
“Designing for Engagement and Responding to Student Behavior” is a practical and conversation-based Deep Dive focused on the everyday realities of working with students. Together, we will explore how thoughtful lesson design, clear routines, and consistent classroom structures can help students feel engaged, supported, and ready to learn. We will also discuss behaviors that are common and developmentally appropriate for different age groups, helping educators respond with both clarity and empathy. Throughout the session, participants will share experiences, reflect on real classroom situations, and build a practical toolbox of strategies for navigating challenges, strengthening relationships, and creating classroom environments where both students and teachers can feel successful. Participants will also have the opportunity to observe real classes at Avenues, connecting workshop conversations to authentic classroom practice.

Designing Schools Around the Experiences That Matter Most: From Research to Practice
Thursday November 5, 2026 9:00am - Friday November 6, 2026 4:00pm PST
What if schools were intentionally designed around the experiences that most shape students’ lifelong wellbeing, purpose, and success?
Drawing on insights from the Gallup-Purdue Index and Avenues’ Student Experience framework, this two-day deep dive invites participants to explore the six essential experiences that research shows have a lasting impact on students: inspiration, care, mentorship, deep work, real-world application, and belonging.
Participants will engage in a highly interactive process that blends reflection, analysis, and design. Through guided activities, they will:
  • Reflect on their own formative learning experiences and connect them to the research
  • Explore the “Big Six” and how they translate into the Avenues Student Experience
  • Conduct an experience audit of their own schools to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities
  • Examine concrete examples from Avenues São Paulo, including structures such as circles, mentorship, mastery projects, and real-world learning programs
  • Apply a mentor mindset lens, considering how adult relationships and intentional design shape student growth across all six experiences
  • Begin designing or refining systems and practices that make these experiences more consistent and equitable for all students
Across the two days, participants will move from understanding research → seeing it in practice → applying it to their own context.
Participants will leave with:
  • A clear, research-informed framework for student experience and wellbeing
  • Practical tools to assess how intentionally their school delivers key experiences
