What do your walls say about learning? In this hands-on workshop, we will explore how Learning Walls can become powerful tools for documentation, reflection, and co-construction of knowledge within Project-Based Learning environments. We begin by walking through existing learning walls in the school, using guiding questions to observe and unpack what makes documentation meaningful. From there, we dive into the theory behind Making Thinking Visible and Reggio Emilia-inspired documentation practices — exploring how intentional, ongoing documentation is not just a record of what happened, but an active part of the learning process itself. Together, we will reflect on why consistent and purposeful documentation matters for the depth and direction of projects, and how learning walls can be co-constructed with students as living artifacts of a community's thinking.
We close with a personal challenge: participants will build their own Learning Journey Wall — mapping something they have learned in their own lives, whether picking up a new language, learning to sew, cooking a new cuisine, or any skill that shaped who they are. Because before we document our students learning, it helps to feel what it means to make our own thinking visible.
